What ED medications does Hard Health prescribe?

Hard Health provides Sildenafil (Generic Viagra) and Tadalafil (Generic Cialis) in a powerful combined single dose that starts working quickly and stays effective longer. These medications are taken sublingually (dissolved in the mouth between cheek and gum) allowing for the quicker onset time (15-30 mins) instead of swallowed where the onset time is 45 minutes. Results last up to 24 hours.

How do ED medications work?

PDE5 inhibitors like Sildenafil (Generic Viagra) and Tadalafil (Generic Cialis) help relax blood vessels, improving blood flow to enable an erection. These medications do not increase sexual desire but rather enhance the body’s natural response to arousal by improving blood flow to the penis.

What causes erectile dysfunction (ED)?

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by a variety of physical, psychological, and lifestyle factors. Some common causes include:

Physical Causes of ED:

  • Cardiovascular Disease: Reduced blood flow due to conditions like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or atherosclerosis (narrowed arteries).
  • Diabetes: Nerve damage and poor blood circulation can contribute to ED.
  • Hormonal Imbalances: Low testosterone levels or thyroid disorders may impact erectile function.
  • Neurological Conditions: Conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or spinal cord injuries can affect nerve signals.
  • Medications: Some prescription drugs, including antidepressants, antihistamines, and blood pressure medications, may cause ED as a side effect.
  • Obesity & Poor Circulation: Excess weight and lack of physical activity can impair blood flow.

Psychological Causes of ED:

  • Stress & Anxiety: Performance anxiety, work-related stress, or general anxiety can prevent proper arousal.
  • Depression: Low mood and lack of motivation may reduce sexual desire and function.
  • Relationship Issues: Poor communication or emotional disconnect with a partner may contribute to ED.

Lifestyle Factors That May Contribute to ED:

  • Smoking: Damages blood vessels and restricts blood flow.
  • Excessive Alcohol Use: Can interfere with nerve signals and hormone production.
  • Poor Diet: High-fat, high-sugar diets may contribute to weight gain and poor cardiovascular health.
  • Lack of Exercise: Regular physical activity improves blood circulation and overall cardiovascular health.
  • Recreational Drug Use: Certain substances, such as opioids or stimulants, may negatively impact sexual function.

Tip: Addressing lifestyle factors, managing stress, and maintaining overall health can help improve erectile function alongside medical treatment.

Are ED medications safe?

When taken as prescribed, Sildenafil (Generic Viagra) and Tadalafil (Generic Cialis) are safe and effective for most men. However, they are not recommended for individuals who:

  • Take nitrate medications (commonly prescribed for chest pain or heart conditions).
  • Have severe heart disease, low blood pressure, or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Have experienced a recent heart attack or stroke.
  • Have been diagnosed with severe liver or kidney disease.

What are the common side effects of ED medications?

Most side effects are mild and temporary, but the most commonly reported ones include:

  • Headache
  • Flushing (warmth or redness in the face, neck, or chest)
  • Dizziness
  • Nasal congestion (stuffy or runny nose)
  • Indigestion or upset stomach
  • Back pain or muscle aches (more common with Tadalafil)

These side effects usually fade within a few hours. If you experience persistent or severe symptoms, you should stop taking the medication and consult a doctor.

When should I seek medical attention?

In rare cases, ED medications may cause serious side effects that require immediate medical attention, including:

  • Chest pain or shortness of breath
  • Sudden vision loss or changes in vision (e.g., blurred vision, blue-tinted vision)
  • Hearing loss or ringing in the ears
